Dream of Rain

Kyha looked up, trying to see past the enormous sheet of frosted glass above her.
Drip...drip...drip...
She blinked a couple of times, then shut her eyes.
One...two...three...
Open. Still a sheet of glass. But not frosted anymore. Clear. Through it she saw small circles intertwining as they smashed against it.
Drip...drip...drip...one...two...three...
She heard breath. Her breath. Shallow puffs of cold air appeared in front of her eyes.
One...two...three...
Drip...drip...drip...
The rain had stopped.
"Kyha."
She shut her eyes again, refusing the voice for a moment. Then opened them again.
Small, round blue child eyes looked into hers, squinted from smiling. Laughing.
Joy. Happiness.
Tears filled Kyha's eyes. She squeezed them shut, feeling the tears fall down her face.
"Kyha."
No.
"Kyha."
Stop it. Now.
"Kyha, look at me."
Please, stop.
"Kyha!"
Her eyes shot open. The blue eyes were gone. Warm chocolate brown ones had taken their place, the gold flecks showing worry.
She fell forward and felt herself be caught. Her cheek rested against someone's shoulder.
"You're okay," Corrin said.
Kyha's tears fell against his shoulder.
Drip...drip...drip...
She gripped his shirt. His arms held her tightly.
"Deep breaths," he was saying,"just take deep breaths."
She nodded.
One...two...three...
He loosened his hold on her, and she moved away from him. The dream had ended.
"You're okay," her best friend repeated, his hand still on her shoulder. She nodded once.
The dream was gone. Her little sister with it.
